Why Should I Choose Braces?

Traditional braces are a mainstay in orthodontics.  Brackets are bonded to each tooth and specialized wires are tied into the brackets.  It is the wires that move your teeth.  We start out with thin, flexible wires and gradually increase to thicker, more rigid wires.  Each set of wires will move your teeth closer to the desired final position.  Colored ties are a fun way to change your look at each visit!

Not all braces are created equal.  We use high quality braces that deliver consistent results.  The advantages of braces include less patient compliance, customization, and the ability to treat the most complex of situations.  We offer both clear and metal braces to suit your needs.  Let’s work together to achieve your smile goals!

The Benefits of Braces

Affordable Treatment

Braces are a cost effective way of straightening your teeth and improving your bite. They also are covered by many dental insurance plans.

Extremely Versatile

Braces are able to treat the most complex of orthodontic situations. They require less patient compliance and offer more customization such as color ties as well as metal or clear ceramic options.

Prevents Further Oral Health Problems

Misaligned or crooked teeth are harder to clean, which can raise the risk of gum disease or tooth decay. They also may wear down more quickly, and could be more prone to chipping, cracking, or breaking. Misaligned teeth can contribute to problems like tooth grinding and TMJ/TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder). With braces, you can reduce the risk of these problems.

The Braces Treatment Process

Orthodontic Consultation & Braces Placement

At your initial consultation, Dr. Albert will assess whether braces is a suitable option for you. The first step is completing a comprehensive orthodontic evaluation. We will go over your 3D X-rays, check the alignment of your teeth and condition of your bite. Additionally, you will discuss your smile goals with us and together determine a treatment plan that is tailored to meet your specific needs and lifestyle. If you decide braces are right for you, we can even put them on same-day!

Adjustments & Checkups

Once your braces are attached to your teeth, you’ll will return to our office every 4-6 weeks for adjustments. These appointments take about half an hour. Your orthodontist will check on your progress and tighten your braces to make sure your teeth keep moving toward the proper position.

Braces Removal & Retainers

Once you and your orthodontist are happy with the final position of your teeth, we will remove the braces and polish your teeth. A set of custom retainers will be made to protect your new smile. Retainers help your teeth maintain the proper position after your braces are removed. You’ll wear these as directed by your orthodontist.

How do braces work?

Brackets are bonded to each tooth and specialized wires are tied into the brackets. It is the wires that move your teeth. We start out with thin, flexible wires and gradually increase to thicker, more rigid wires. Each set of wires will move your teeth closer to the desired final position. While all cases are unique, it can take anywhere form six months to two years to correct your smile with braces.

What are the benefits of traditional metal braces?

As a tried and true method, braces are one of the most reliable ways to straighten teeth. Individuals dealing with minor to severe orthodontic issues can benefit from their effectiveness. Unlike clear aligners, you don’t have to worry about removing or losing your braces, setting your smile up for success. This is particularly useful for younger children or those who simply want a hassle-free solution to removable clear aligners.

How do you care for your braces?

Caring for your braces is similar to regular oral healthcare. Make sure to use a soft-bristled brush to keep your teeth, brackets, and wires clean and free from debris. Make sure you brush all surfaces of your teeth, especially between your brackets and gums, and under any brackets with hooks.  Don’t forget to floss!  Visit your orthodontist for regular follow-ups to ensure your teeth are adjusting properly and your general dentist and hygienist at least twice per year for checkups and cleanings.

Am I a good candidate for braces?

Metal braces are an excellent solution to a number of orthodontic issues. If your teeth are crowded, overlapped, gapped, or crooked, metal braces can restore your smile and shift your teeth back where they belong. Patients struggling with an overbite, crossbite, overjet, or open bite may also be great candidates for metal braces.

How much do braces cost?

The cost of metal braces is different for each patient. Factors that may affect the cost of your metal braces include the severity of your teeth misalignment, appointment and visits, insurance type, and more. The best way to find out how much you’ll pay for metal braces is to schedule a consultation with your orthodontist.
